Why do I want to do a Coffee Meets Bagel review, a smaller dating app company? To be a little honest, I was getting sick and weary of match.com and not forgetting the ever swip-y tinder. This time round, I tried a new dating app that went through Shark Tank, Coffee Meets Bagel.
Who is on Coffee Meets Bagel
As hippy as the name sounds, there are far less fakers on Coffee Meets Bagel. I do not know if it is because it is still new ( and fresh) or if they have a great mechanism to rid of all of the scammers. Although I do believe it is the former. People are definitely more genuine and honest about their profiles. They have real people on there, not just people who have their accounts idling and never check their messages.
Majority of the users on Coffee Meets Bagel are looking for a connection or soul mate, rather than a hookup. Our Tinder review will tell you otherwise. Hah.
Usage of Coffee Meets Bagel
First of all, it is free. The iPhone app makes meeting people almost too easy. Due to the fact that you are given the option to link your account to Facebook and check out many degree friends who are on it, there is much more substance behind Coffee Meets Bagel. With their structure of linking to a Facebook’s profile (It does not post to Facebook though), a friend of mine met a guy who was into programming contests, and she never would have encountered such people on OkCupid (our OkCupid review here).
For the meat lovers out there, beware, you merely get one match a day (at noon), so it’s basically a hit or miss. Good thing is that Coffee Meets Bagels matches users with similar background and interests.
There is absolutely no way to get more “Bagels” than one a day so some of us may find this an uninteresting and unsatisfying “dating” site. On the other hand, you are also more likely to finally view the daters as humans instead of using that app as a giant meat market.
Also, on Coffee Meets Bagel, you can’t initiate contact with someone unless they’ve already established their interest in you.
Do also take note that you cannot cancel your account without going through their support.
I haven’t found anyone that is a match for me on the app, the daily bagels haven’t been coming for me and the bagels that had are not the type of guys I would like. I don’t like that you have to buy coffee beans to match with a guy you like.
The best part for the ladies is that there are lesser trolling creepy guys. They are real people and they don’t seem so jaded like the ones on our Match.com reviews.
